Oh what a year it's been

One year ago today, we found out we were pregnant with our little Nugget. I'm happy and grateful for the Turkey and I'm sure I appreciate this pregnancy a lot more than I would have if we hadn't lost our first one, but I'm sad nonetheless. I had no idea how much it would hurt to lose a baby and it was the furthest thought from my mind. But, five weeks later, it was over. And I'm apparently still not over it.

This is the post from last year:

I know you have a bunch of emotions you are experiencing today. My mother always says, "things happen for a reason". I use to think that she said it just to try to make the situation a little better. I absolutely believe it, but it took me until my 40's to really understand what she meant. Well, I can tell you that down the road you will figure it out. You may have been spared a greater hurt later on in your pregnancy or after delivery...you don't know, nor will you ever. Just know that the Nugget made it possible for you to carry the Turkey (who is certainly making himself known in there). You had something taken away, but you are also being given something wonderful. Life can be cruel and wonderful all in the same breath.

I love the last line of your mom's comment. So true.

It's okay to be sad. Sometimes I'm sad and can't figure out why and then I'll realize it's the anniversary of something. We don't have to tell ourselves to be sad because it is a day, just like we can't tell ourselves not to be sad for the same reasons.

((BIG HUGS))
