Gross

There is a large, human turd on our parking lot at work. I thought it was a pine cone at first. Not so much.

Rick said Fairfax reminds him of DuLac (from Shreck) because it's so green and tidy. I bet DuLac doesn't have turds in their parking lots...

22 Weeks

I'm definitely beginning to get a lot more of the aches and pains associated with getting bigger. My belly skin's pretty tight, especially by the end of the day. My back bothers me a lot. And my indigestion seems to be getting worse.

Please don't take this as complaining. I love being pregnant and am grateful for every minute of it.

Bizarro Andersons

For those of you that know us in person, doesn't this look just like Chris and I???!!! Well, besides the fact that Chris is way hotter. My friend Helen took this on her vacation in Florida last week.

Some advice...

Do not sympathize with another woman about having bony feet until you have looked at your own to confirm they are still, indeed, bony. They may surprise you and look like this:

Gymnastics

This child thinks my cervix is a trampoline.

That is all.

Great weekend!

We had a great weekend! Saturday we went to BRU and finished up our registry. We picked out our bedding and some really cute outfits. Now I need to go to Home Depot and get some paint swatches and figure out wall color. I'm leaning toward a light green but we'll see. I may do tan. Who knows? All I know is that Chris is in a big hurry to get it done so I'm picking out paint this week!

After BRU we went out to Leesburg to have dinner with Chris' parents. It was Bob's birthday yesterday. We had a really nice visit with them. We spent hours outside on the porch after dinner chatting away.

Yesterday I woke up with some nesting motivation so I started in on laundry, worked on D'Cadillac's blanket, cleaned the bathroom, did more laundry, worked on D's blanket, cleaned the dining room, did more laundry, hung out with Chris and worked on D's blanket, did more laundry, and then we tackled the nursery. We've been using that room basically as storage since we moved in. There wasn't a lot to do in there, but it was hard to figure out what to do with the stuff in there. Like, where do we put the safe? Or, where are we going to store our old bills? That sort of thing. But we figured it out. We threw away a lot of stuff, added more clothes to the Goodwill pile, and got the room ready for painting. It's practically empty now. Well, the closet's full of baby stuff, but that doesn't count. I think it took us about an hour total to do it. We took a few breaks. It's hard for me to bend and squat too much. Makes my back hurt.

I really feel good about how much we got done yesterday. We usually make these grand plans to do that room and then it never happens. Go team!

Yippee!

Ben's finally here! I'm so proud of Jess. She labored without any pain meds for such a long time, and although she didn't get the birth she wanted, little Ben is here and life is good. I'm so happy for her!

I have no words.

Thank you.

20 Weeks

Here's looking at you, kid!

Or, as Chris calls it, the Sexy Sonogram.

We saw our little Turkey on the big screen today for our 20 week measurement ultrasound. First off, it was my first abdominal ultrasound so I was really excited about that. I'm sick of the internal one. She squirted a ton of freezing cold goo on my belly and there was our little Turkey. He'd gotten so big since the last time I saw him at 13 weeks!

The first thing I noticed was a beautiful spinal column. It was perfect. Then the tech went around and checked head size and leg bones and such. Then...the moment. She froze the screen and said, "Now, for the sex." I said, "Wait! What are you looking at??" because I didn't see what I was looking for (the typical between the legs shot). She pointed out with the cursor what she was looking at and I yelled out, "It's a boy!" Sure enough, our little Turkey's a boy! We're so excited. I'm a little bit in shock but slowly getting used to the idea.

Here's a pic of his boy parts. The arrow's pointing right at his junk. I guess if he was out of my body this could be considered inappropriate posting a pic of my son's penis. My son. Oy.

Everything else looked perfect. His heart rate was 147 bpm and he weighs approximately 14 oz. He wasn't moving around much (for once!) but Chris got to see him punch me. :-)

After the sono, they weighed me and checked my blood pressure. All you haters out there will be happy to know that I've gained 4.5 pounds in the past month so you can stop cussing me out under your breath. We then moved to an exam room so they could measure me and wound up waiting in there for 45 freaking minutes! That's a small room to wait that long in and we got a little antsy. When Karen (my midwife) walked in, she saw Chris with a tape measure to my belly trying to measure my fundal height. She started laughing and then showed him how to do it and he measured me. 19 inches. Just about perfect.

We scheduled a follow up ultrasound for six weeks from now to check my placenta. It's a little low and they just want to make sure it moves up as my uterus grows and stays away from the top of my cervix. No big deal and I'm not worried about it. We also scheduled our 4D ultrasound for that day. Should be a fun morning! Well, except for the fact that I'm also doing my glucose test that day. Yuck.

Off to go fix our Babies R Us registry to reflect our new "boy" status!

Rules of Pregnancy

Andria has posted an awesome list of the rules of pregnancy. Go read it. You may learn a thing or two.

One more day...

...till our big ultrasound!!!

Boy or Girl: which will it be?? Cast your vote through the ExpectNet link on the right.

(My Puritan husband made me change the wording on the above post. My apologies, sweetheart.)

Movement

I'm not sure how many people read the comments so I wanted to post about something Chris mentioned in my last blog post.

He still hasn't felt the baby move. I feel it a lot and sometimes think he thinks I'm making it up since he hasn't felt it yet. I've also seen it from the outside. If I'm getting some good kicks, I can move my stomach a certain way and see it. Finally, last night, Chris got to see it. I was getting good, hard kicks, so I had him watch one particular spot and then...bam! It's so fun to watch. I was really happy he finally got to see that I'm not imagining things!

Wedding Trip

We spent this weekend in Blacksburg for Chris's friend Dave's wedding. It was a lot of fun! His wife, Kathleen, looked so beautiful. It made me want to get married again...

Here's a pic of us all gussied up:

Gross

A nice side effect of this pregnancy recently has been vurps. You know vomit + burp = vurp. It seems that nothing I eat or drink goes all the way down right away. It sits in my esophagus or something and as I burp, it comes right back up into my mouth. Totally nasty. Just thought I'd share.

19 Weeks

Little bugger's growing quickly. My back's been bothering me much more than it used to. Yesterday we were walking around the mall and it was pretty painful. But as long as I kept one hand pushed into my lower back, I could walk just fine. Now I know why pregnant ladies are always walking like that!

Yesterday, we met up with the Bird, Paulie, Wendy and Baby Michael for lunch at Pei-Wei. I haven't seen Birdie since before I was pregnant so I was really excited to see her. And it was an added bonus that the other three came along! We had a nice lunch. I ran into an old friend that I hadn't seen since before Chris and I were dating so he was pretty shocked to see me all married and pregnant and grown up. Sometimes I have trouble believing it myself. It's all very surreal.

Speaking of before Chris and I were dating...today is the five year anniversary of our first date. I can't believe it's been five years. And I'm thankful every day that he didn't give up on me in the beginning. Believe me, he had plenty of opportunities.

Baby, I love you so much and the past five years have been the best of my life. You're amazing.

Baby Shopping

Chris and I went to the baby stores this past weekend to get a start on picking out the necessities. We had a great time at Buy Buy Baby in Springfield. Our sales guy was so excited about every carseat and stroller. It was crazy. But we got a lot of stuff picked out for our Babies R Us registry. We'll have to finish it after we find out the sex next week.

So, the highlight of our Buy Buy Baby trip? We were trying on Baby Bjorns and had fetched a doll to put in there to see if we like it. As we were doing that, some random lady offered up her kid! So she put her daughter in Chris's Bjorn! Can you believe that??? No? We have proof:

Nobody would ever do this in Baltimore! This is why I love living in Virginia.
