Got a call from Dr. Cross the other night to tell me that Carter's bloodwork came back showing that he's "borderline anemic." She told me some foods he should eat more of (namely more chicken, turkey, etc.) and she also mentioned that eggs are a good source of iron. I was under the impression that eggs are a no-no until after one year old, but she said if there's no family history of allergy it's probably okay. I think he'll love eating eggs. Gonna scramble one up for him on Saturday morning (so we can observe him all day to see if there are any signs of allergy). Gotta head over to Wegman's first though, to get some organic eggs and chicken breasts for him.
We're also going to get him back on the Poly-vi-sol. It was a disaster trying to get him to take it when he was an infant, but I think it'll be much easier now. He loves taking medicine. :-)

He is going to think he's having a party getting all this food. Since he loves to eat, he can have fun pigging out. He may surprise you and take the vitamins with no problem.
Oh man, we just went through the same thing! I hate that poly-vi-sol stuff. Also good are brown cereals like oatmeal.
I was anemic when I was little. I want to say my mom tricked me into eating strawberries and sometimes spinach. I had to take some vitamin or something by a dropper every morning with my Cheerios and OJ. Very distinct taste. I can still remember it.
Owen is borderline anemic, too. I honestly think it's pretty common when they first start eating because they don't get a lot of high iron foods. Bring on the eggs!
I was told my nine month old was anemic, so I had to give him poly-vi-sol also. A true nightmare! He is used to meds daily, but nothing as bad as that foul tasting stuff! After a month of fighting him, our doctor switched him to Fer-Gen-Sol and it is odorless and tasteless! It's an iron supplement, but without the vitamins. He loves taking it!
Praysie is (was now, hopefully) borderline anemic. We are also upping the protein and some vitamins. She's allergic to eggs (too) so we're trying to be creative over here. Thank goodness she loves edamame which is the purest form of protein. Let me know of any other ideas that you hear!
Good luck!
