Breaking Up is Hard to Do

How do you break up with someone you're not quite friends with, but they're trying really hard to be friends with you?

If you figure this out, let me know. I have one of those....

I think you tell them that you are busy with other things, like work, your husband and the new baby you have on the way. Those are the things you need to focus on now. It's nothing personal, but just how you've decided to prioritize.

Pick your nose. Noone wants to be friends with a nose picker.

You don't want to be my friend anymore, do you, snort.

Andria, stop picking your nose.

Well, you could be passive-aggressive and go for the old silent treatment. But that very rarely works with the "cling-on" types. You could pretend you're still in middle school and have another friend break up with her for you. Gah, can you tell I have no good ideas? I have one of these people in my life as well.

I like Andria's suggestion (LOL!), but I've always been an avoider. I'd just ignore and avoid her until she finally gets the hint. It's wimpy and mean, but it works. Eventually.

yeah, let me know too! I seem to be a magnet for those kind of friends IRL... people i just REALLY don't want to hang out with, but they keep calling me anyway! ack!

Say, "I don't want to be your friend, so quit trying so hard." The person will disappear really fast and you can blame it on pregnancy hormones.

You could just post on your blog and hope she reads it. And now that I've read it, I'll leave you alone. ;)
