14 Weeks
I'm wearing maternity clothes full time now. Well, I can still sneak in a few pre-pregnancy shirts, but my boobs have gotten so big that they're a bit tight and all you see are my hooters. Thankfully, my sister-in-law, Holly, who's also pregnant, passed on a few clothes to me from her sister and the majority of them fit perfectly. So, I have a pretty decent summer wardrobe. I could use maybe a few more shirts, but it's not urgent.
I'm feeling good. I seem to be peeing less frequently at night, which is very nice. Now, it's every 3 or 4 hours, instead of every one or two. I'm having a lot of round ligament pains, especially when I sneeze, which is pretty often these days. My boobs still hurt, but it's definitely gotten a little better than a few weeks or months ago. Still no weight gain, which is great, considering my belly is definitely looking like I've eaten a few too many chocolate glazed doughnuts. I was sort of hoping that the fat would magically go from my upper arms and thighs directly to my belly, but that doesn't seem to be the case. A girl can wish, though...

Am I the only person who hates Rosie O'Donnell? Everywhere I turn it seems like everyone's taking Rosie's side in this stupid Elizabeth/Rosie fight. Did you see the clip? Elizabeth is right! Rosie needs to take responsibility for her own words. Or shut the hell up. I vote for the latter. I just don't get the Rosie Love Fest.

NT Screening
We had our nuchal translucency screening today. Our Turkey looked very healthy. Baby was measuring 13w4d. He sucked his thumb a lot and he's right-handed. And also very stubborn, like his daddy. The doctor kept trying to get him to move into the right position but he seemed to like where he was and didn't want to move. He finally moved long enough to get a quick neck fold measurement and then we gave up.
The weird thing is that right in the middle of everything when they couldn't get the baby in the right position, they kicked us out of the room so someone else could come in and get an ultrasound done. So, instead of me getting dressed and going out to the waiting room, they had us move into the dressing room, which was a tiny little room. It got really awkward when we heard the doc say to the lady, "Okay, I'm going to insert the speculum now." Gross. Here's a pic of my mom sitting on the floor as we were waiting to come back in.
And here's a pic of our little 7 cm wonder. It's not the greatest, but his head is on the right and his right hand is on his forehead. He's got a really cute little buddha belly and a big head.

I hate doing MeMes!
Darn you, Canape! I hate doing MeMes. I can never think of anything clever. Here are my 10 Things about Me MeMe. I'm warning you..it's boring.
1. I have a sick obsession with Big Kahuna Reef. I have difficulty watching tv without playing my fish. I love it.
2. I am terrified that I may actually have a baby this November (or December).
3. I could stare at my husband's lips all day long. They're so plump and delicious!
4. I really want our baby to look like my husband.
5. I read blogs ALL DAY LONG while I'm at work. I get maybe an hour's worth of actual work done each day.
6. I'm not a people person.
7. I'm very judgmental, even though I try not to be. I just think my way is the right way and everyone should live their lives the way I think they should.
8. I'm obsessed with Cap'n Crunch right now. The cereal, not the Cap'n himself. He skeeves me out.
9. Speaking of which, I hate people in costume. Clowns, mascots, etc all freak me out. Not fun.
10. I love potty humor. Love it.
I now tag Heather because she's the most hilarious person I know and she'll have a great list. That girl makes me laugh every single day.

12 Weeks
Not much to update. The Turkey still seems to be okay in there. We heard her heartbeat again last night. I have a bit of an obsession with the doppler, but I only do it once a day. Usually.
I've also included a picture of my clothed belly to show that I'm starting to stick out just a little bit. I can't wait until strangers start to notice...

Doctor's Appointment
Had my 12 week (a little early) appointment this morning. All went well. We heard the heartbeat, which was sort of disappointing because it would have been nice if she hadn't been able to find it and had to do an ultrasound to make sure everything's okay. But the heart was chugging away, which is always so special to hear. We talked about screening tests and we decided to go ahead with the Nuchal Translucency Screening, so that's next Wednesday. Everything else was great. Blood pressure was nice and low, no weight gain yet, and I'm doing well. I just hope it continues this way. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and praying that it doesn't.
Mother's Day
There's been a lot of talk in BlogLand of what constitute's a Mother and who's "allowed" to celebrate Mother's Day. One of the blogs I read, and my stupid brain can't remember who it was, said it best. She said that when you're pregnant with your first child, you're a Mother the second you conceive that child, but you're just not yet a Mommy. I like that theory, although I don't know that I truly felt like a mother until our second ultrasound, when I saw that little umbilical cord tethering our little Turkey to me. But a mother is someone who puts their child's needs before their own, and I've been doing that since even before we conceived. I gave up caffeine, I tried to eat well and drink more water, I stayed away from cigarette smoke. I did everything I could to protect this little one before he even existed. I guess that's what makes me a Mother. And that's why it felt so nice to be on the receiving end of Mother's Day.
I think about myself and my friends that have miscarried or lost their babies later on and I'm sad that we're not yet Mommies. I hope next Mother's Day brings us all the joy of having our own child, finally.

Weekend
We had a really nice weekend! Friday night we met up with Phil, Laura and Carley for dinner at Red Rocks and it was DELICIOUS. Carley enjoyed hanging out with her two daddies:
On Saturday, Chris played in a charity tennis tournament to benefit the Washington Tennis Education Foundation. It was a lot of fun. He was the best one on his team (and I'm not just saying that because he's my husband!). They practically begged him to serve when it was his turn to play. My boyfriend, Mayor Adrian Fenty, showed up and shook a few hands. Do you think he knows I'm stalking him???
Yesterday Laura and Carley came over to watch Grey's from Thursday. I have to say, I wasn't very impressed with this new spinoff. I found it a little blah. Plus, I hate pilot episodes when they have to explain every situation and every character. That annoys me. I'll probably watch a couple of episodes, and then pray that they send Addison back to Seattle.
And now, a pic of my man in action. Ain't he cute??

We have a heartbeat!
We heard the baby's heartbeat on our doppler tonight. It was so awesome! We've been trying for about a week now, but with no luck. Then, tonight, we hit the jackpot. I was able to get my mom on the phone to let her hear because it's her birthday and we thought she'd think it was cool, but then the battery died and we couldn't share it with anyone else. Tomorrow we'll get more batteries and call Chris's parents and let them hear.
I'm so relieved. It's not that I was really that worried that something was wrong, because I didn't feel that anything was. I was just frustrated that we weren't hearing it. Now, I feel much better and can wait until my next doctor's appointment in a few weeks. This doppler is a godsend.

Record
I think last night was the record for how many times in one night I can get up to go to the bathroom. I seriously think it was seven. I felt like every time I fell back asleep, I was up again and had to pee. So annoying. Guess I shouldn't have had my little glass of milk before I went to bed. But, how can you eat Otterbein's without milk??? All I know is that I need a serious nap. Good thing I have acupuncture after work. I know I'll get a good nap in then!
