Static
One of the problems of living in a major metropolitan area is that it's hard to find static on the radio. There are so many radio stations! Carter (like many babies) likes the static sound, but I'm having trouble getting a station for him. Right now I have it in between so you can sort of hear talking through the static. It's working but I'm finding it annoying. I need a CD that plays static.

Homedics makes a great (and relatively inexpensive) sound machine where one of the options is waterfall (white noise!). It's come in very handy with #2 and I plan on getting another with #3. Trust me, it drowned out a screaming 2 year old so a newborn could sleep.
You try the AM stations???? I have a station preset for Ryan now - he has a meltdown with every stop of the car.
I've found the ocean CD I have works well and more or less sounds like static. But if you need some here's a link (you have to log-in to download it). . .

It's licensed as creative commons so once you download it it's free to use as long as you give credit to the site if you were to use it for say a movie. Burn the MP3 to a CD in itunes and play it on repeat.
Or do a quick google search for white noise MP3. There are tons of CDs available, of course paying for a CD of static seems silly.
Try a white noise machine! All 3 of my boys have used one. They are awesome!
We got a noise machine at BRU for $20. Also I know a lot of people turn off the base of their baby monitor and hold the receiver near the baby for static. Or maybe it's the other way around... I know a girl who brought it in the car with her everywhere!
