Introducing...

Shrago David!

Carter's baby naming was yesterday. We decided to forego a traditional bris and have him circumcised in the hospital, but I still wanted some sort of ceremony for him. So, the cantor who married us was able to travel an hour down here to perform his naming and it was so great. Carter slept through the whole thing, which I suppose is better than him screaming through it.

Carter was named Shrago after my step-grandfather (it was his hebrew name), and David after Chris' grandfather. I remember my Zaidy as such a nice, loving man. He welcomed us three kids into his family with open arms and I always felt loved by him. Chris' PopPop was strong, smart and tough. But you NEVER doubted his love for you. Again, another man who instantly welcomed me into his family. Carter is a lucky boy to have these men as his namesakes.

Thank you to everyone in our family that was able to participate. We were honored to have you there.

I'm glad all went well with the ceremony, and the names you chose are very lovely and very sturdy...
I'm hoping that Tuesday will be a good day to meet up, what does your schedule look like?? :)

I held back the tears yesterday, but they came flooding out after reading your blog. I only met Chris' grandfather one time. I was glad I had the chance to speak with him at your wedding. He seemed so genuinely happy that you were in Chris' life and so at peace with that. Your Zadie would be so proud of the beautiful (inside and out) woman you have become. He loved you and would be truly honored that you named your son after him. Carter is going to be a strong, loving, independent person if he is anything like both these men. You were lucky to have them in your life, that's true, but they were lucky to have you in theirs and they knew it. You and Chris hosted a beautiful Baby Naming and I couldn't be more proud.

I have to agree with your Mom. The Baby Naming was very nice. I've never been to a bris or a Baby Naming before, but its definitely much more personal and sincere than any Baptism I've been to before. And of course, he was a cutie.

Jessica pointed me to your blog (I'm a local DC-area IF blogger), and I just wanted to say Mazel Tov on your Simcha! What a beautiful name, for such a gorgeous baby!
