Blessed Breast Pump

I've never been happier to see my pump.

You see, typically I leave the pump at my office on the days I work since I really don't use it at home anyway. Well, last night Carter slept until 6 a.m. (I know...woot!) and when he nursed, he was only interested in Ms. Lefty. She filled him up.

By the time I got to work, it had been 13 hours (!!) since Ms. Righty was used. Oh man, did that hurt. I pretty much ran into my office, shut the door, and proceeded to almost cry with relief the second that sucker started up. Oh, look. See what I did there? Sucker? Moving on.

I guess I should start bringing it home every day but it's such a pain. It's just one more thing for me to worry about in the morning. I have enough trouble remembering Carter's nipples for his bottles, and food for myself. If I forgot my pump, all hell would break loose. One day I forgot that piece that's like a horn. You know, the most important part? I had to drive all the way home to get it and back again. I need a checklist:

Carter's breakfast and lunch
3 bottles
3 nipples
2 spoons
bibs
binky

You'd be amazed at how many times I forget something. It's easy to forget his binky because he doesn't use it at night. Weird, right? He's the only kid I know that only uses his binky during the day when he's wide awake. And during the day he mostly just plays with it. It makes a nice squeaking sound when he rubs it on his gums. He likes that. It's good though, because from what I hear it's the hardest habit to break (binky at bedtime). All I know is that my life has gotten a lot better since I stopped having to reinsert the damn thing every 10 minutes when he was trying to go to sleep.

Speaking of his binky, he's REALLY good at getting it right in his mouth the correct way. He knows when he does it backwards and flips it around and pops it right in. He's so smart. I'd heard rumors that at around 6 months they start to use their binkies by themselves. I didn't believe it. The other day I tried to put it in his mouth and he yelled at me and pulled his head away. A second later he was putting it in his mouth himself. Independent little turkey.

Wow, that post ended nowhere near where it started.

I just got all sentimental when you called him a little turkey- it reminded me of when we were both pregnant. Aww... fuzzy feelings.
Anyway, of course he is smart. Duh. Just WHO is his Mommy? (And, Daddy. Not leaving you out Chris!)
I tried to get Blake to take a binky around 3 months- he resisted. So, here I am at almost 7 months, with a baby who just cut a tooth and likes to rub it all over my nips. Yeah. BE GLAD Carter takes a binky during the day!

And now I have tears in my eyes remembering being pregnant with my little Turkey. Sometimes I still look down when I'm in bed and feel like my belly should be moving in all sorts of funky ways still. I miss that. Even though it hurt sometimes.

Be sooo glad he doesn't have the paci at night. See M. just turned 3 and we just finally got rid of it.

My wife had spare parts (the horn thing) for her breast pump at work. We were lucky that my boss had a breast pump she was no longer using, so she leant it to us (we got new tubes from the pet store).

So she had a pump at work and home. Worked well.

Hubby and I consistently forget the diaper bag, and joke about one day forgetting the baby. I'm afraid it might happen. :hide:
