What's in a name...

We've had a lot of people ask us where the name Carter came from. I don't think it's that unique of a name to have so many people confused about our choice, but I will tell you this...

He's not named after this guy or this guy. It's not a family name either. In fact, he's not named after anybody. It's just a name we like. I'm sure we saw it somewhere in a baby names book, or even from the baby store.

All I know is that I like that we chose a name that people seem to respond to. And if you're one of the few who don't like it, don't tell me. I don't care. :-P

I came across your blog from I am not Skippy Jr. Let me just say I just love your son's name. My first son is named Carter, and you are right everyone is so impressed by his name. We often got asked if we named if after Carter on ER. Just because my husband is an ER doc I guess. We just came across the name and it stuck. Our newest addition is named Peyton and we always get asked if it is after Peyton Manning. I am like no I am an Eagles fan.LOL People just can't except that you like a name just because you like it. Congrats on your little guy. He is adorable.

I love his name. I have a friend who is named Carter just because his parents liked it, and he ran with the president thing and named his kids Madison and Grant.

I do like it...and it was on our short list when we decided on our son's name (ended up with Logan). You will always find someone who doesn't like the name you've chosen. I'm with you...too bad! My sister didn't like the name we chose for our daughter (Ciara), but I told her to get over it. 5 1/2 years later, she loves her to pieces and I'm sure doesn't even think about the person who ruined the name for her in the first place! :)

I love the name Carter as do many others. Your blog was filled with compliments on his name after his birth. A child's name is a personal thing just between the parents. You thought long and hard to come up with a name you both loved. Kudos to you!

I love the name Carter! Actually it's our boy name if our next baby is a boy- Carter James. For us it is a family name. Actually my grandmother's maiden name. Love it!!
I think I may tell people that we did name him after John Carter on ER just to see their reaction!

Our daughter's name is Addison and I cannot tell you how many people ask if we're huge Grey's Anatomy fans!!

When I was recovering in hospital after I had my oldest son Kane, there was a Carter and Chandler in the same hospital room as us...too funny! I always thought it was a perfect boys name. FYI we didn't get Kane's name from the bible, we chose it because we liked it..trust me we get that question alot! Although my uncle tells me that when I have a daughter I should call her Mable..lol (groan)!

Well I love it. It was on our short list of final names for Gavin. Lots of people stumbled over his name, too. In fact, in his first few months he was called Galvin, Garth, and Derrick (by 2 people!).

I love the name Carter, and as long as you guys like it, that should be all that matters! For what it's worth, we often get asked if we named our son Noah after Noah Wyle (the guy who played John Carter). Carter is a great name. Enjoy it and your boy.

I think it's adorable, and tell anyone who decidedly has an opinion on it to have their own kid, and they can name him/her whatever they want. :P

Carter is a great name. I love it. Both Carter and the name Tucker were on our list, but Harrison won in the end.

Most people have no filter. I love the name Carter. It is strong and was a great choice.

We got some real strong opinions when we chose Nadia. Whatever...it's her name and they can get used to it. I love it and is perfect for her.

I love his name, people aren't too fond our our choice with this baby. I would rather people just keep their comments to themselves. He's GORGEOUS!
