God Bless Dr. Brown

For over a week, we've been trying to get Carter to eat from a bottle. We tried Avent and Medela nipples, but he just drowned. He would struggle to breathe and make these awful noises, and his eyes would pop out and his arms would fly up. It was terrifying. For all of us.

Tonight we decided to try the Dr. Browns bottles just to see if it was any different. We were given advice to try all kinds of nipples to find the one that worked for him. We were also going to try pulling him off after 4 or 5 sucks (or whatever it would be right before he drowned) but he took to it like a champ. No choking. It was amazing. He drank 2.5 oz and now he's snoozing on Daddy.

I feel such relief. Now Chris can have the bonding time feeding him, and we can send him to daycare without me having to drop in every 3 hours to feed him!

Hooray for Dr. Brown's! Glad Carter didn't have any problems with it. I'm so happy for all of you.

We use the Dr. Brown's. They do rock.

We use the Playtex drop-in system. Mari is a year old and still uses the slow flow nipple. With fast flow, which they recommend starting at 6 months, she just ends up with milk everywhere - her face, her shirt, etc. It's a mess!

We use Dr. Brown's too! Glad he took it well! Just make sure you use the travel caps when going somewhere.. they leak.

I formula feed, as you probably know, and I've used nothing but Dr. Brown's since day one and they rock. Haven't had a single problem. So glad it works for you too!

Thank goodness you found something that works for you!! Let me know if you need a few extra bottles, I have leftovers from the triplets...and the twins...and the spares that we kept in the closet... Plenty to spare. Regardless if you need a few, let me know I'll meet up with you and drop off a few. They're so dang expensive. Saving a few bucks never hurts. :) Oh and hey, Merry Christmas!!

Dr. Brown bottles do indeed rock. My wee granddaughter uses them. She was a bit premature and as a result her digestive system was also not ready to do its thing. Poor babe spit up almost as much as she took in before Dr. Brown came to the rescue.

One piece of advice...be careful not to mix up the nipples. My son wasn't paying attention and figured a nipple was a nipple...wrong. He put an Advent nipple on a Dr.B bottle and got major leakage. Advent has little nubbies on the underside (the wide mouth bottle nipples do at least) and the Dr. B's are smooth. The mix up equaled one wet baby.
