16 Week Appointment

I had my 16 week doctor's appointment this morning. It was a quick one. Pee, weigh, BP, hearbeat, see ya later. I'm down a pound since last visit, blood pressure was nice and low, and the Turkey's heartbeat was loud and clear. I'm a little nervous that I haven't gained any weight. I have a feeling it's going to hit all at once and then...Stretchmark City. Great.

We scheduled our big ultrasound appointment for July 11th. I'm really glad we were able to make it that day since it's our due date with The Nugget. It'll turn what was going to be a pretty sad day into a very exciting one. I've joined a new online group and the majority of these ladies are having their babies in July, which has been kind of hard. I see their huge bellies and some of them have already delivered. It makes me think of where I should be. But I've gotten to a point where I'm excited for them and I rarely feel sorry for myself. I'm really trying hard to stay positive.

"I'm a little nervous that I haven't gained any weight."

I'm smiling at this. Bet you never thought you'd be worried that you haven't gained weight!

(Umm...you can have some of mine...)

You know I didn't gain at the beginning either and I am still a low gainer but as you have seen, I am ok and don't have stretchmarks. Well three on one side but they look more like cat scratches.

I didn't even think about how seeing all the July-ers might make you feel and selfishly wanted you there. Not cool of me. But we totally dig you and are glad you joined and well you know how much I adore you and can't wait to live the Turkey Road with you!

I know it's hard. My bff/Daycare provider had her baby a year after I gave birth to Bella. I never expected to be around another baby so soon. But I've found happiness is much easier to hold than resentment and pain.

PS - on the stretch marks, The Man told me "If you scratch, you'll get stretch marks." (And OH BOY did I!)

I think there was a tad of truth to his wive's tale, though - that itchy skin is dry skin and dry skin doesn't stretch well. Try a body butter or something to rub on your stomach a hundred times a day (or just a couple if you're not obsessive).

;) And don't worry about the weight gain...trust me...it'll come.

Yep. It's a strange feeling to be happy and pregnant at the same time of feeling sad about July.

Glad everything is on going well for you in your pregnancy!

Are you finding out/telling the sex?

Don't worry, the weight will come. You look beautiful and your tummy is growing GREAT- enjoy the lack of weight gain while you can!

A lot of those CRAAAZY ladies are due in July, a couple of us were supposed to be, and now some of us are looking forward to being huge in the fall/winter. I am so glad you joined. We all adore you. You fit right in with our crazies- and now you can never leave! MAHAHAHA!

I actually gained all my weight in the second trimester...and, you know, now. Enjoy the worry of not gaining enough because, in a few months, you'll be wondering how to shove that cake and that hamburger down 20 minutes before your doctor's appointment without giggling a little when you say, "But, doctor, I have no idea how I gained 10 lbs in a month!"

The diapers I got were at http://clothdiaper.com We ended up getting the following:
- 2 dozen 4x6x4 infant (look in "Special Offers")
- 1 dozen 4x8x4 infant unbleached factory seconds (special offers)
- 2 dozen 4x8x8 premium unbleached factory seconds (special offers)
- 1 dozen gauze diaper doublers (special offers)
- 4 small Bummis Super Whisper Wraps - 2 white, 2 froggy (we skipped newborn and just got small, I couldn't bring myself to spend that much on something we'd be lucky to use for a week)
- 4 medium Bummis Super Whisper Wraps - 2 white, 2 froggy
- 1 pack citrus circles (beware, these are *strong* smelling - I have yet to decide if I like them but they'll probably keep the pail from stinking)
- 2 Snappis (because I'm afraid to use pins)
Don't forget to add your free hooded towel if you order over $50. I completely forgot :( It's under special offers, as well.

Everything we got is for washing every 2-3 days, up to 30lbs. It was all for $150 including shipping. If you're really against factory seconds (ours mostly just had bleached spots on them or slightly off kilter sewing so they're definitely not big mistakes), you can get the package for pretty cheap, too. They're the cheapest I've found and they got here in 3 days.

Don't worry about the weight gain. I had HG when I was pregnant and lost over 30 pounds. I gained 10 of them back, starting at week 32. Oh, and the stretch marks are nothing to get excited about...I am totally scarred for life and it ain't pretty.

BTW, you look great.

I'm sorry it's been hard seeing the July gals on the board. But I'm so glad you joined, and I'm looking forward to following your journey. Your little Turkey will get here before you know it!
