This, right here, is part of the reason for the silence of the past weeks. We had grand plans to install new laminate flooring but after 8 hours of trying to lay them, Chris and my brother and SIL realized that our concrete was not level enough and they wouldn’t ever click in right.
After much drama and negotiation and waiting waiting waiting, we finally were able to secure a concrete guy to come in and level our business out. He finally came last week and we spent over a week at Chris’ parents’ house waiting for the concrete to dry, and allowing Chris time to lay the floors. Yes, theoretically we could have gone home once the concrete was dry, but this is what our bedroom looked like:
And this is what Carter’s room looked like. Yes, that’s a couch on his bed. LOL
We had to remove EVERYTHING from our living room and dining room, in order to allow the concrete guy to do his thing. And there was no point in moving the stuff out of our rooms until the floor was down. So we got to hang out with family for a week, and it was actually pretty great. Carter and I shared a bed and he slept pretty well, the meals we got were amazing, and my commute to work was mostly through farmland. Not bad, but I couldn’t wait to get back home and get this house straightened out.
We’ve now been home for two days and made some good progress. The excess furniture is now out of our bedroom, and back where it belongs. There are a bunch of boxes and such that we still need to go through and decide what to do with, but I’m hoping to have that all done by the end of the week.
A preliminary photo, before we moved the stuff back in. My husband is a rock star.
